The Somerset Drainage Boards Consortium enables access to professional engineering, financial and administrative services for the Axe Brue, North Somerset Levels and Parrett Internal Drainage Boards. The Drainage Boards manage water levels for the protection of people, property and the environment.

The personal data we would like to collect from you is:

Personal data type:   Name, Address, Telephone, Email, Bank Details (Direct Debit), Land Holdings, etc.

The personal data we collect will be used for the following purposes: All statutory responsibilities in accordance with the Land Drainage Act 1991, Annual Drainage Rate Levy, Rechargeable Works, Contacting you regarding an enquiry, Planning and Land Drainage Consent applications.

By consenting to this privacy notice you are giving us permission to process your personal data specifically for the purposes identified.

Consent is required for Somerset Drainage Boards Consortium to process both types of personal data, but it must be explicitly given. Where we are asking you for sensitive personal data we will always tell you why and how the information will be used.

You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to the Data Protection Officer as detailed in section 3.6

3.3       Disclosure

Somerset Drainage Boards Consortium will not pass on your personal data to third parties without first obtaining your consent. The following third parties may receive your personal data for the following purpose(s) as part of the processing activities: Environment Agency, Natural England and RSPB for Water Level Management Plan reviews. Somerset Rivers Authority for flood management works. Annual rhyne maintenance contractors for access purposes. Water Level Management Alliance for Drainage Rating System support. Orchard Computers for IT maintenance and support.

3.4       Retention period

Somerset Drainage Boards Consortium will process and store personal data for as long as necessary within the provision of our statutory responsibilities. Finance data (rating data) will be held for as long as required within the provision of statutory responsibility. Finance data for Land Drainage Consents will be held for 7 years. All documents are securely disposed of at the end of the retention period.

3.5       Your rights as a data subject

At any point while we are in possession of or processing your personal data, you, the data subject, have the following rights:

  • Right of access – you have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you.
  • Right of rectification – you have a right to correct data that we hold about you that is inaccurate or incomplete.
